Good looking bronze Avanti convertible for sale in FL. Currently listed in "other cars" at eBay. Would like an opinion as to what the price should be. One owner. 40K + miles.

Didn't one sell for about $25k a few weeks ago? That was a different story, though...it was owned by Mike Kelly's father and by VIN was built on a Firebird chassis from the '90s. That pretty much skews any reasonable valuation...just what it was worth to one person.

Since there are so few of this series Avantis built, so few people who even know about their existence and so few come up for sale, it's pretty difficult to come up with a fair market value. I suspect at an asking price of $47,500 (and a fair bit of honest wear and tear) it won't sell. It's not a true auction since it has that price and a "make a bid" function, so most interested persons may either be scared away or simply ignore it. It may sell after the listing ends by an off-line negotiation and we won't know the selling price. Maybe I'll be surprised...pleasantly surprised.

Looked at pics of this car today. Label on door frame says "Studebaker". What did Studebaker have to do with Avanti when that car was built? Ken, Deltaville Va

All one can assume is that Mike Kelly owned the rights to the Studebaker name. The stillborn XUV was first called a Studebaker but allegedly had negative feedback due to the name and was going to be renamed the "Avanti XUV" if everything didn't crash down...if it would ever have been built anyway.

What ever happened to this car?
