studegary
Studebaker announced on 12/9/63 that production of cars would end in South Bend and that it would be the end of trucks and Avantis. There were newspaper ads on 12/16 and perhaps 12/15, so that may be what you are looking for, but that would not be "The official public announcement..." (which was Dec. 9). Sorry Gary, but according to a very well known Avanti historian, Studebaker announced the end of passenger car production at South Bend on the ninth, (to be continued at Hamilton) however, the announcement of the complete end of Avanti production happened on another date....and that date was either the tenth, thirteenth, or fifteenth of December, 1963 Any other thoughts on this one? studegary
Perhaps you are looking for the announcement of the build out of ordered Avantis, probably about the 13th.

Good try Gary, however, the answer here is #2...the tenth.
