Took it to a radiator/gas tank repair shop, I was told the tank needs to be acid dipped, then sandblasted inside before it can be resealed. approx $500. Does this sound about right, and price wise? what does a new replacement tank go for (if anyone makes one)? Does anyone have a good spare tank? Detroit/Ann Arbor, MI area. Thanks for any help. Gunslinger Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share Posted March 23, 2011 realize things cost what they cost, but before shelling out the money, I would check with George Dimitsas of Olympus Avanti in Chicago (773-486-6026) or Dan Booth at Nostalgic (1-800-AVANTI-1). George sells new gas tanks fabricated from stainless steel and Dan sells rebuilt original gas tanks. They can each give you a price and you can decide which way to go.
