Studebaker Avanti 63R1171's claim to fame was.......?........

 

1) First R2 to have 160 speedo.......2) 'Avanti Black' exterior paint......3) Shipped to Italy for period auto shows......or......4) First production three speed transmission

Not an answer to your question - it was built in September 1962 (57 years ago).

EDIT:  It also should be 63R1171.  It is much too early to have been built without the 63.

Yes, it's hard to believe that much time has slipped away!.....SCARY!:o :unsure:

I agree, although the owner of this Avanti chooses to leave out the '63'!:o

CORRECT ANSWER......#3!...Initially, 63R1171was used for Italian Auto Shows!:)

I thought that is what I answered.  I guess that I hit the incorrect number.
