mfg Posted September 1, 2019 Report Posted September 1, 2019 (edited) The mainshaft of a Borg Warner T-10 four speed transmission (as used in Studebaker Avantis) has ......?..... splines. 1) sixteen......2) eighteen......3) twenty.....or.....4) twenty-two Edited September 5, 2019 by mfg
r1lark Posted September 4, 2019 Report Posted September 4, 2019 I'll say "none of the above". All those spline counts seem too high to me, but I"m too lazy to go out to the garage and count the splines on one of mine.

Hmmm........didn't get out the garage yet, but here is a 'pre-rebuild' pic of the input shaft on my '64 Daytona which would be the same as an Avanti. You can see about half of the input shaft, and five splines. So the T-10 would have about 10 splines on the input shaft. Are you sure you are not confusing the input shaft with the output shaft? Hmmm!...I'll check that out later Paul....
mfg Posted September 5, 2019 Author Report Posted September 5, 2019 Okay, I see the mistake...The article stated 'transmission MAINSHAFT'...I wrote INPUT shaft....I'm correcting the original, and this trivia question is STILL ON!!
