Hi, First: I got my Avanti registered and on the road and it is great fun to drive it! (Last week two rides with a total of ~650 km) But there are still some things I need to improve. One is that the accelerator (gas) pedal is getting quite hot when driving for a longer time on the highway. I sometimes need to take the foot from the pedal for a few seconds to relax a bit from the heat. And my shoes have quite a good sole. Has anyone eperienced something similar and have you any recommendations for me how I can improve that?

Hi John, wildfelr, kodjo and rhusak, So, the cross over the intake is blocked and a thick gasket between intake and carburator is in place. Also took the best fuel available (98 octan). As far as I can see, it seems to work. At least the engine did not die due to boiling fuel anymore. More tests to come on the weekend, but so far seems to work. Thank you all for your help!

Hi, I have the problem with my 1963 R2 the engine always after 30min or so. Now, looking for the reason I found out that the carburator gets very hot so that the gasoline is almost boiling in there. Does anyone have the same problem and/or have an recommendations what I can try to isolate it so that it does not get that hot?

Hi, I have just brought my new Avanti home from its prior owner in Switzerland, last week: 1963 R2 color grey red seats and beige dash imported from the US to Switzerland by Binelli & Ehrsam AG, Zurich first registered in Milano, Italy, in 1967 by a Mr. Passoni VIN R-4641 Engine no. S-2514 Body no. 3609 Factory order no. 1416 I thought I could post some photos here as I am quite proud right now 🙂 If anybody knows anything about this car's prior history, please let me know.
