  1. One thing I'm seeing as a soon to be buyer (mine arrives on the 13th) that all models are quite similar. Yes there are minor changes and even a driveline change at the end of the run, but the reality is, they are all so similar it hardly matters. To base a possible purchase on the small stuff is (to me) nonsensical.

Now I'm receiving a 2002, and to me, At first glance they all look the same. To someone who goes into various specifics, it to me is near nitpicking. Yes there are differences, but yes they are minimal.

I might add, the newer the model the more confusing the repairs will be on them.  Anything after 2003 gets computerized to the point I don't want to mess with them.  But that's a personal opinion and I'm "old school'' when it comes to Wrenching.

  2. Stacy ...Yeah I'm thrilled.

This "IS: a car to be ''Driven'' and taken to car shows along with my '63' R2.  Srss47 has been a pleasurable person to deal with thru this process. I've invited Him and His friends down to stay in my Tiny Home rental when the car comes thru.

My Wife sez "Ya gotta get rid of something".  ''Yes Dear!!!'' ... so my 928 Porsche needs to go. I'm running out of barn stall space anyway so it'll happen in the Spring. Maybe sooner. She keeps me straight and on the narrow path (but don't tell her that or she'll get a big(ger) head).

  3. Srss47...Thanks for contacting me. It was a pleasurable conversation.

Folks , It looks like I'll be the new owner of this Beautious Vehicle.

We struck up a deal over the phone and are setting up a time to do the transfer. I'm sure excited to see this Baby in my Barn.

    Thanks Bro-Man!

    ......

Oh and Stacy... My Wife had a fit.. She's getting over it (I think)

  4. Skip.

What I noticed is there is no longer a "header bar" across the top, but instead a drop down symbol on the right where I can access the forum and other site features. It took a little thinking before I realized how it works but finally I figured it out.

Being a New Owner of a AV R2, '63' and New to this site as well, I find it a very interesting source and for materials, parts and the likes. materials.

    Stude On!

  5. Roland, sorry for coming in to this subject at such a late date.

The Hog trough is an issue and I'm hearing prices of around $1500-$3000 to have one done,

Other than that, I wish I owned Your ride., Ya see, It is a perfect candidate for going Resto Mod.  As it sits, I'm assuming a value of between $7k to 9k. If gone thru and with a general clean up and running down the road maybe $12k.

I paid $16.5K for an R2 in pristine condition but it sat for many years, It has 85k miles and is a creampuff. That said, I think I stole the car but the seller and I weren't far from His asking price. I'm assuming what I have is worth $40k+.  I've went thru the minor issues it's had, Should be good to go.

So I'd peck away at the things it needs to be drivable and be careful on any funds I would put into it. What a story! You bought it back from the one who You sold it to years back? I can think of a few cars I've had that I would LOVE to own again.

  6. Hi Moderators and site owner(s).

    I LIOVE Your site.

There have been some changes and a lot of information has been deleted over the last few months. I was wondering if things would return to their previous Glory and why the changes took place to begin with?  Maybe it's on my end?

Just a praise to y'all for being here. I frequent Your Avanti Forum on a regular (daily) basis just to keep up on what's out there. I'm new to the Avanti World and LOVE the cars ... all years... especially the last Firebird and Mustang format.  I own a 63, R2 and am thrilled we have a source for info and a ownership to refer to.

Thanks again, My Curiosity is just piqued.

  7. I'm a fan of ALL model Avanti's and wether modified or not, they all have a place in my world.

I have a 63 R2 everything original ... My friend has a Av 2 I think it's an 80's model, another acquaintance has a 63 with a 600hp LS based engine, a Tremec 5 speed and a Mustang 2 front suspension. He's out to hit 200mph on the Salt Flats.

I personally would like to find a Avanti in poor shape and re-do it into a resto mod like the 3rd individual, and want it as a daily driver. I'm concerned my Original car may not be suitable for that purpose.

    So Modify On! Bro's!

  8. Hello all. In July I bought a '63' R2. I'm having many small issues with Her but she is a 'drivable car' (cept brakes need work)

I'm certainly thrilled to join y'all of "Like Minds" and thankful to be around those of knowledge.
