  1. After my second failed attempt at mounting the trunk weatherstrip in place- I finally thought of what you recommended- I guess everything deserves at least three attempts- thanks for your thoughts-it makes much more sense.
  2. Good idea; never thought of that....
  3. Thanks for posting this.... There is no close- up picture in the manual and my trunk seal was broken down and so rotted it was tough to tell how it was originally placed. Now I understand; have been trying to orient it incorrectly- no wonder it wouldn't fit. Anybody have a preference for rubber cement, or no big deal?
  4. AO136- - car started when I did your suggestion.... I assume that points to making the starter cut out switch adjustment you recommended. Thanks for the advice...
  5. Where is the neutral safety switch? and is that the same as the starter cutout switch?
  6. Good evening everyone- Been working on the drivers side door (still am) and had disconnected the battery for a couple of weeks, but would reconnect it periodically to run the engine for a bit. Went to do that again the other day and nothing... no clicking, no sound of any kind when I turned the ignition key. Confirmed twice that the battery is in good shape, so started with the circuit testing in the workshop manual. The headlights stay on and do not dim when the switch is turned so it seems the starter (which was rebuilt by previous owner in 2019) could be the culprit. Again, let me affirm my rank amateur status at this so any suggestions with detailed recommendations are welcomed. The manual says to connect a heavy jumper across the two terminals of the starter magnetic switch. I assume that magnetic switch is part of the starter or is it somewhere else? Also the starter cutout switch - where is that located and can that be an issue? Thanks for any thoughts.....
  7. Current project is replacing window door seal (anti-rattle) on drivers side. Have panel, tape off, and have followed the steps in the workshop manual (1-5) to remove door window. Have the window loose and the ventilator assembly loose, but the window seems stuck toward the rear of the door. I can lift the front part, but not the back, so I can't remove it. What did I miss?
  8. Reading the factory manual it seems replacing the front section of the headliner is more straightforward than replacing the rear. So a number of questions - Do the panels attach directly to the underside of the roof? Type of adhesive? - The rear section - do the rear windshield and side windows need to come out? any tricks to minimize disassembly or go "straight by the book:" - Any tips and suggestions are welcomed. P.S.-- seatbelts 62", 72" ..... do you use all 72" lengths for all four seats or 62" in the front? -
