So Studebaker was "goaded" into square headlight trim or were they doing that independently?
-
Seat belts and radio were an "opt out" item. You were getting it unless you said otherwise. I'm going to say TRUE, unless you really didn't want them.

To add insult to injury, Sears was sort of the Amazon of its day.
-
It must have been $25. Everything was cheaper back then.

I'll take a stab at #3 $325

Since you said a "rumor" I'm thinking it was a whopper of a rumor. My answer is 65!

You'll need the Hi and Lo tone horns. The one I had difficulty finding was the Lo tone since this one sat underneath the battery tray. Batteries would leak, taking out the horn eventually.

I thought it looked chopped at first..

Looks AI generated to me. but if you squint with one eye you can get an idea of what a two seater Avanti could have resembled...

Was he concerned with trunk space, or cabin dimensions?

Paint? I thought he wasn't a big fan of fins either.

Do you know if the electric pump would be used in place of the mechanical pump or somehow in conjunction with it?

There must be a connection with Andy Granatelli/Paxton. Did they keep documentation separate from Studebaker and if so do any records survive? Price lists when they were selling R3 engines in various forms?
-
I wish I had more to add. Again, this is page G-250 of the Studebaker Avanti Authenticity Manual under "64 Dealer Order Guide for Avanti". I have a 63 Avanti and I have put blinders on to anything other than that. It's kept me plenty occupied. I have a copy of the 63 order form and it's prior to R3 so it's not listed. It was only when I compared 63 & 64 order guides that I picked up an electric pump being offered as an option. Perhaps that was more forward thinking from Studebaker that they couldn't deliver on? Does anyone have a 64 order guide to look at?

That picture didn't turn out too well. It's page G-250 of the Studebaker Avanti Authenticity Manual.

In the 64 Avanti order form it lists an auxiliary electric fuel pump as an option for R3 and R4 engines. Any idea who made the fuel pump that's listed?

I'm going with Red because red means fast!

How many Avantis are still in existence?

I looked back through my browser history and I was trying to update "TheAvanti.com" -

Then I am in it! I was trying to update the AOAI listing. My Avanti wasn't included in their listing. It has a fill-in form that, when I hit send, says there was some sort of error. -

I tried adding my Avanti to the list but when I hit "send" it gives me an error message.
