  1. So if i buy a engine hoist and leveler, and i know how to get the trans and engine out, what all would i want to be caucious of damaging. Obviously firewall and tunnel. Already have hood removed. Anything else i should be worried about or is it pretty straight foward once unbolted.

  2. Gunslinger i just put on hedman hedders block huggers, 2 1/2" in pipe and then flowmasters and welded on the original tips. It sounds so much better and pretty sure the 0 to 60 picked up a little better but not much. Sadly... the test drive after the exhaust was put on, my trans pooped out on me and pretty sure I lost 3rd gear. Found some turbo kits with nice manifolds and think i can make it fit where the a6 compressor used to be with a little shaving of the bracket. But gonna have to wait till i replace the trans to even think about it

  3. Curious about if anyone here has put a turbo on the 305 in an avanti. If so how? I was thinking i could fit one where my a6 compressor was but not sure if a nice turbo manifold would fit without modification.

  4. Ordered some block huggers they fit but on passeneger side fuel line i believe is right under the end of the manifold to collector on my 83 with 305. Any one else run into this problem? How did you get around it? Thanks

  5. Does anyone know or have a diagram of how the whole original avanti window motor and rack assembly installs. From what it seems, the driver side may be a little different. The gear or thing with the teeth on the drivers side window rack is pointed towards the engine bay. When i installed the passenger side, it is only possible with the "teeth thing" pointed towards the truck. I can bolt everything up except for the black bracket that has 3 bolt holes in a triangle form. Sorry, in a pinch to get ny window up and expalined best i could. Thanks for any help.

Megamat by FatMat. Add two layers to the firewall and footrest areas. Others will talk about getting material from the big box stores, but if you do be sure it does not have asphalt in it.

My 83 has no air and was "tolerable" running in 93 deg weather a few years ago on the way home from a zone meet. It was not baked by engine temperature and with the windows open and air moving it was fine. Did the same on my 74 but it has air.

You will need to use small pieces under the dash to get complete coverage. Tape all joints with aluminum foil tape available at the the big box stores.

Put a cheap rubber mat on the floors to protect it. If you tear the hell out of it, add another layer before carpeting but the stuff is amazingly tough.

Is that carbon fiber on the instrument cluster panel and the gear shift and other panels? How did you do that and what did you do I really like it.

  7. I figured something out. I got power to the my new stereo and cut the connector to the old stereo and ran new wire from each speaker. Was a little bit of a pain but once I can find a way to mount it, it will all be worth the trouble. Sorry for my terrible explaining. I have really bad ADHD and memory loss from a bad car accident 3 years ago. Also, I wasn't expecting to hear anything. I think my grandfather had someone fix or replace the radio a long time ago and they chopped up some of the wiring and it was a utter mess.

  8. I want to put my radio in because I've decided to resto mod my Avanti. And I want to have updated gauges and a nice updated radio and speakers. I already have new speakers. I'm starting to think, is it possible I can power my radio and just run new wiring from the speaker wires on the new radio to my speakers. And just bypass the old wiring?

  9. I have 2 speakers in front close to the door, and 2 in the back. They all have red and white wires with a grey insulator tube around them. They all run into the back of a connector, the connector has brown wires coming out. And a green wire, the green wire has a red wire that connects to my radio. There's a yellow wire that is by itself. Connects to the radio. I connected the red and yellow wires to my new radio, and got power. Hooked up my phone to play music and nothing goes to my speakers. When the sun comes out I'll snap some pictures.

  10. My speaker wires I think are tied into the red and yellow wires that were in the radio. Also theres a ground that connect to the old radio that my new radio doesnt have a spot for. I'm probably just better off taking to a professional. Don't know to much of what I'm doing when it comes to this.

  11. Have access to the radio. Can fit my little hands through the top of the dash. My next step is literally to remove it. Feels like the radio housing is mounted on a bracket but not sure. Any tips or tricks anyone knows to get this out.

  12. I have a ground wire attached to my frame right across from the starter. It's not connected on other end. Is it supposed to go to the starter. Only about 5 or 6 inches long so I don't think it goes to my block.
