  1. A quick update! I had some Kilz around which I brushed on a little at a time. It worked great. Set it in the sun and it was dry in about ten minutes. It dried to a flat white finish and eliminated the tiny cracks. I called Myers Studebaker and was told the color I need is an Eggshell white which is more of a satin look.
  2. Thanks Nelson. The only thing I see are small cracks in some areas (like tiny check marks). I'm not sure if I created some of them because I used a plastic type sponge like what you would clean your windshield with. I notice you mentioned vinyl dye. Is that a safer bet than paint? At the moment I don't know the difference between them, but I'll google it after I post this reply.
  3. It's great to see this happening! Do you know the weight of the wheels? I just received of package of parts here in Callaway VA from Myers Studebaker in Ohio. Linda Myers did a great packing job with my order. The package was 28x28x10 and weighed 36 pounds. Shipping cost was $97.45! If she hadn't cut and folded the box down to 10" high, the shipping would have been closer to $150. Do you have any idea what the shipping cost might be for me for a set of four? Also, just a thought, do all the spinners have to have the same engraving? Maybe you could offer a choice here. I have two "63s and a '67, so I would like to see Avanti engraved on mine. I also like the look of the non-clear coat, but whatever is decided will be fine with me.
  4. Just getting back to this. Thanks for the comments. Being compressed paper, I will try misting it first with a spray can to see how it goes. It may be all that I need. The '64 Avanti headliner looked great!
  5. Hi! I am restoring my '63 Avanti. I was mainly interested in the color of the headliner prior to refinishing it. When I came across this thread, I couldn't stop reading it until it ended. I took the car apart 2018 and everything has been sitting on shelving. Last year began a body off restoration. Almost ready for painting and putting it back together. After reading that the headliner pieces were pressed paper and styrofoam, I feel lucky it didn't dissolve on my workbench! I used Tuff Stuff to clean it, followed by a damp rag and then dry rag. Do I dare paint it? Leave it alone? Any other possibilities? It cleaned up pretty well, but it doesn't look white. I'd call it a light cream. Thanks guys. George
