dclewallen Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 I've been working to get the AC repaired on my 66 Avanti [327]. The brackets are interesting as they look homemade [alt. bracket] or were welded crooked [AC compressor]. I have fixed them and went to reinstall the AC and ALT. belts and found they were both too long also the width of each is slightly different from the other though all the pulleys are the same. My question is does anyone know the correct ALT. and AC belt sizes ? To know would probably save me several trips to the parts store. Thanks for any help on this, Darryl
Gunslinger Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 The interchanges I have for your belts are: a/c belt... Gates 9490 Dayco 15545 Goodyear 17491 alt. belt... Gates 7440 Dayco 15435 Goodyear 13441 I don't have the dimensions of the belts...just the parts numbers. If your pulley arrangement has been changed over the years, you'll have to run a string around the pulleys and measure it.
dclewallen Posted June 24, 2007 Author Report Posted June 24, 2007 Thanks for the numbers. I think I'll be able to use the one you list for the alt. but I'm having to slot the ac bracket so I can get the belts to line up. Plus shim the ac compressor to a verticle position. Will have to use the string method on it. Again Thanks, Darryl
