Joe Kiess Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 As you all probably know, Studebaker was trying to promote its new Avanti by using the Lark Daytona for the 1962 Indy 500 and they promised the winner an Avanti as soon as they were available. Does anybody know where the Avanti that was presented to Rodger Ward is today? Is any information available as to what the serial number of that Avanti is/was? Thanks.
Gunslinger Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 The car Rodger Ward awarded at Indy is owned by his son, Rodger Jr. The current edition of Avanti Magaizne has a story on it by Rodger's other son, David. According to his son, he really wanted a car with air conditioning so he got R1034, which is owned by David and is actually for sale right now. David Ward is asking $32k for it.
gibbs_r1 Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 It's on the market from what I hear, it is a white R1, tangerine interior. I am not sure of the contidion though Dan
