IndyJimW Posted June 2, 2007 Report Posted June 2, 2007 This is for the guys with ’87 Avanti’s. I removed the frame side covers for repair and my guys in the shop suggested that we mock up some Corvette side pipes on it to see how it looks. The idea sounds good since I don’t like the covers anyway. Has anyone done this? One of my guys has some Corvette side pipes we can use to mock up with; I’ll take some pictures and post later. SBCA96 Posted June 2, 2007 Report Posted June 2, 2007 I am not familar with how the 87 is set up, but as far as the body I just dont see side pipes working with the Avanti body design. Side pipes only work on a few cars, like the Cobra, Viper and 63 Vette. The Avanti design, being quite european just doesnt seem to support it. Would be interested to be proven wrong though .. so post those pictures up! Tom ..my guys in the shop suggested that we mock up some Corvette side pipes on it to see how it looks.
Ernie Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Not bad. Sure changes the look form luxury to "mean."
Twnchgr Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 They came off because the noise would drive you out of the car after about 100 miles.
IndyJimW Posted June 5, 2007 Author Report Posted June 5, 2007 They came off because the noise would drive you out of the car after about 100 miles. That's the other thing I was wondering about! Thanks for the photos. By the way what is the indent on the middle of the hood on the passenger side? Jim Wood
