Dan S Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 The drivers seat on my '78 is positioned lean back further than comfortable and to my knowledge there is no adjustment. Any advice on how I can get the back of the seat into a more upright position?
Jim78 Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 One option is to put shims under the rear ends of the seat rails, where they bolt to the floor. Depending on the thickness of the necessary shims, you may need longer bolts. This will tilt the entire seat. If your seats are like those in my '78, there may also be an option of shimming the lower plate (with the loop) of the seat latch mechanism. I haven't tried this, but it appears that a shim here would tilt the seat back forward. Again, longer screws may be necessary.
PackardV8 Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 Quote The drivers seat on my '78 is positioned lean back further than comfortable We're all built differently and want to sit differently when driving. Every Avanti I've driven, the seatback was too upright and I wanted to lean back more. I've modified my seats with shims under the front or a completely new seat with a power seat back adjustment. jack vines
