Avanti Back Glass Installation

I have a new gasket for installation of my '63 Avanti back glass. The shop manual says "Lay a 3/32" X 1/4" strip of PPG No. 1072 Butyl vucanizing tape on the outside edge....... I can't find this material or an equivilant. Any suggestions? This is holding up my restoration. Thanks, Dave.

Call and ask an auto glass shop what the current stuff to use would be. You could also ask someone like Jon Myers (www.myersstudebaker.com>) who is in the business of restoring Avanti's. If anyone would know I'm sure he would.

I used 3M Bedding Compound. I did this job some years ago and have had no leaks develop. I don't check this forum often if you have any questions and want to email me directly, feel free.
