Does anyone have the the KONI shock part number for the front and rear on a '63 R1 Avanti? Or if you are running something else on your Avanti, what is the part number and how did the install go??

Hello Jim,

In 2011, I purchased straight from Koni France (where I live), two pairs for my 63 Avanti R2.
I am rather happy with them but as long as I remember, my mechanic had to make some adaptation...

Front : 8040-1017.0802
Rear : 8040-1018.0802

I've checked, they're available at Summit :
https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/kon-8040-1017/applications

Sorry, i didn't make the installation myself, I can't help you more...

Daniel

I thought the original manufacturer was Gabriel and they were the three position adjustable's.  I bought a set for the rear that were the originals or re manufactured to look like and adjust like the originals from Nostalgic Motor Cars, Dan Booth.  In any case they look like the ones in the authenticity manual.  He only has the rears no fronts at this time, maybe in the future.  Expensive though.

As with everything Avanti, what was original depends upon the year, the buyer's wishes, what was on the shelf, available, or on the option list at the time.

This is being asked for a 63 R1,  If there were shocks available for that year other than the Gabriel I would be interested to know.

I posted about a project to get Koni's in the Avanti Pub forum topic.
