Guest whids Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Has anybody found a source for wire wheels that will fir on an Avanti II (1973)? I purchased a set but every time I went over a bump, the tires rubbed on the inner fender fiberglass return (both front and back) I assume the depth of the inset on the wheel was not deep enough to keep the tire from rubbing but cannot find a source that makes the wire wheel that will work- any suggestions- Whids
IndyJimW Posted August 27, 2006 Report Posted August 27, 2006 Go to http://www.daytonwirewheels.com/ They can make custom wheels to your specs. Jim
Jeff Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I am new here, almost have the Ford 4.6 DOHC engine and 4r70w trans in the Avanti, plus waiting for 12" front discs and rear disc adapter plates. With new 17" wheels on the way, I am looking to get rid of a set of 15x7 Player wire wheels with almost new BF Goodrich blackwall 215/65x15 tires purchased by my Dad three years ago. The center cap has a blue Avanti logo on it. I am not sure if the style is to your liking, but they seemed to have appeal to someone, as this '73 won almost 30 first-thru-third places in the last three years. Player wheels are expensive new, but they would be $400/set picked up with the tires still mounted. Shipping would be more. Not trying to hijack your thread, just trying to give you an option. I tried to upload a picture but the forum wouldn't allow it. I can e-mail a pic if desired.
