TMA62
I have new leather door handles to replace my old ones. What is the best way to replace these? Thanks in advance!
Gunslinger
An upholstery shop can fix you right up. Inside the door pull is a metal band. The shop (or yourself if you're talented enough) takes a sheet of foam pad, wraps it around the metal band then wraps it again in either leather or vinyl and sews it shut along the edges. Then it's a matter of reinstalling it like new. For an upholstery shop it's a simple thing...if a college course it would be "Auto Upholstering 101". TMA62
I do have two new leather handles from Dan Booth. How do I replace the old straps? Do I need to take off the inner door panel and replace the handle that way? Or can I simply remove the chrome 'buckle' without removing the inner door panel? Gunslinger
The two chrome pieces on the ends pop out...it might take a small screwdriver blade to help with that. One the end caps are off there's a machine screw that threads through a bracket into the door. Just remove them and simply do the reverse to install the new straps. It's pretty simple. TMA62
Thanks for the advice, Gunslinger. I replaced them before the AOAI meet in Kansas City and they look great.
