Interior panels that cover heater vents

I need to cover and install the vents under the dash on either side of the console. Any special tricks of the trade for cover and installation before I get going? I am trying to match the rug but can't find anything that has the same name on the build sheet. I have matching carpet in the trunk so will see if I can use that. If not I have the black anodized aluminum dash and console so I was thinking of doing them in black. The existing rug in the interior and trunk is beige. Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated.

Is there a template to cutting this shape of the rug? I know it overlaps the edge.

Suggestion which I did was to clean-up the panels and got a rattle can color that matched (closely) my trim and just painted them. They look good.

If you do not like it just cover over with carpet or a fabric.
