SteveBoilard Posted Monday at 04:23 AM Report Posted Monday at 04:23 AM Hi--I recently purchased a 1963 R1, and I'm slowly taking care of a number of fairly minor issues that I've discovered. My latest project is tightening the rear quarter windows. I can pop them open with their hinged latches, but above like 35 mph the wind pressure blows them closed again. Years ago I had a similar problem with a Studebaker Hawk, and I was never able to fix it. I tried silicon seal on the pivot point, bending the latch a bit with a pair of pliers, etc. I suspect this is a common problem, but I can't find any posts on this forum about how to correct it. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks! Steve
mfg Posted Monday at 05:56 AM Report Posted Monday at 05:56 AM If you tighten the screw with the wave washer under it, (between the body bracket and the swing out latch), it tends to tighten up the hinge assy.

Thanks! Somehow over the past 63 years my wave washers disappeared. I had no idea they were supposed to be there. I have ordered some and crossing my fingers they will do the trick. I appreciate the tip!
