mfg Posted September 19, 2015 Report Posted September 19, 2015 What was the major interior change Studebaker had in mind for the 1965 Studebaker Avantis? (Had there been 1965 Studebaker Avantis!!)
mfg Posted September 20, 2015 Author Report Posted September 20, 2015 No 1965 Studebaker Avanti experts in the house tonight??
BRitz Posted September 22, 2015 Report Posted September 22, 2015 2 "extra" door panels in the back? Egbert wanted a sedan & Lowey came up with 2 versions, a Fastback & a Notchback.
mfg Posted September 22, 2015 Author Report Posted September 22, 2015 Not exactly what I was thinking of........This change was based on the 1964 Studebaker Avanti interior....With one difference!
plwindish Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Weren't they also flirting with 4 headlights?
mfg Posted September 23, 2015 Author Report Posted September 23, 2015 Weren't they also flirting with 4 headlights? I think they were.....or even two real w-i-d-e ones!
mfg Posted September 23, 2015 Author Report Posted September 23, 2015 ANSWER.....A solid 'saddle tan' interior color option....probably similar in color to the '58 Packard Hawk interior, but once again made using vinyl.....not leather. Altman must have liked the look, as many of his Avanti ll's were built with a 'saddle' interior color!
plwindish Posted September 24, 2015 Report Posted September 24, 2015 The II's interiors were advertised as anything the customer wanted, but there were a lot done with the "acorn" color Gladstone vinyl both full vinyl interiors and with cloth inserts as well.
