Whlnut
I'm reassembling my '63 R1. Is it better to put the windshield in before the dashboard, or does it matter? Edited July 16 by Whlnut Spelling
R3 Forward
Not sure but when I reassembled my 63 I did the dash first. I remember looking down along the leading edge (where the window would have been) and being able to view the gap between the window edging and the dash, which helped find the bolts to tighten and adjust the dash into the correct location. Not sure I could have done that with the window in place. So I would suggest doing the dash before the window as it worked for me.... Jim
JimM
What type of sealant are you using for reinstallation of the windshield and where do you buy it? I understand that a 3m product, #8509, is preferred but I have been unable to find any.
Whlnut
CRL 7708 appears to be the only similar alternative to the discontinued 3M 8509. I will have a glass installer with lots of classic car experience do mine. The CRL brand is readily available online. Your local automotive paint dealer should have it in stock.
