mfg
Although Halibrand mag wheels were installed on a few of the "Bonneville Studebakers' for PR and photo ops., standard Studebaker steel wheels, (with and without wheelcovers), were used on these cars for all of the official speed record runs.....True? 64Avanti
This is most likely and should have been true as the Halibrand wheels would have created more drag.

mfg
Good thoughts, but I'm afraid the answer here is FALSE!....At least one of the Bonneville cars set speed records with the Halibrands installed.....that one was the #7 six-cylinder, two-door Commander. 64Avanti
Oh well the 6 cylinder car didn't go fast enough for those to have much impact!
plwindish
The Halibrands probably made it look 40 mph faster!!
