Engine Mounts

When you install the engine in the car should you attach the engine mounts to the engine or to the frame? Or one on the engine and one on the frame. It seems like it might be hard to reach the bolts if I do it the hard way.

   Also, is it possible to attach the rod from the gearshift to the transmission once the trans/engine assembly is in. It looks tight.

   Should I leave the crossmember out, then attach it to the transmission, or attach it? Or move it in along with the trans/engine assembly?

   Any help appreciated.
