What was the 'economical trick' engine swappers used when fitting period Cadillac engines into Studebaker/Avanti chassis?

1) Shim steering box over....2) Exhaust headers....3) Use right exhaust manifold on left side....or.....4) Stick with Studebaker engine

My guess would be #3, use the exhaust manifold.
