Guest Larry Delazzer
Hi, I've been chasing my fanny looking for hose clamps for my 63 Avanti, the ones that are a flat band with a screw going through a captured nut. I know there is some controversy about whether they are correct or not but in looking at engine compartments in old advertising material that is the clamp I see so those are the ones I want. I know they aren't required for judging but that's ok. SI and Myers doesn't have them, any thoughts on where I might purchase some, thanks. Mike M
It's a little strange, but those are actually Ford Model "A" clamps. I think they are supposed to have "A6" stamped on them. It's one of the things mentioned in Stan Gundry's book. The aircraft clamps just don't look right; and they aren't! Mike M.
Guest Larry Delazzer
The hose on the Avanti is 2 3/16" or so in diameter, seems big for a model A but I sure don't know. Dave Thibault says he normally carries them and will have more in soon, we'll see and I'll let ya know. Thanks for input.
Guest Larry Delazzer
Well, Mike M, you are correct. I just checked a Model A supplier and there they were, the correct clamps. Thanks much. Larry
