lschuc
The California Automobile Museum (CAM) at 2200 Front Street, Sacramento, CA., on Thursday, May 16 at 7:00 pm, is hosting a special presentation titled “The Father of Industrial Design – Raymond Loewy”. The speaker is Bruce Marwick of the Art Deco Society. Included will be a documentary film titled “Looking Back to the Future”. There will be a display of cars, buses and automotive literature reflecting some of Loewy’s vehicle design, including display of two restored vintage Greyhound buses designed by Loewy: 1. 1938 Yellow Coach, to be on display for five days, from Sunday, May 12 through Thursday, May 16th inclusive – 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (May 16 to 8:00 pm). 2. Mid-1950s GM Scenicruiser, to be on display one day only, Thursday, May 16 – 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Attached is a CAM flyer concerning this event. Bill Bourne, a volunteer docent at the California Automobile Museum, has been active in management of bus systems for the past sixty three (63) years, and have authored three articles on historical aspects of the bus industry – which explains how he became the point person to bring Loewy-designed buses to the museum. We are attempting to notify members of the Pacific Bus Museum and the Greyhound Retired Employees Association to encourage their attendance. We welcome any other efforts to attract visitors.
