Chief Blaze
I am a member of Studebaker Driver's Club - CHIEF BLAZE. (1955 President Coupe). i just purchased a 1984 Avanti Coupe, and I want to register the car with AOAI. On the registration form, I must select it is either a 1984 Touring Coupe or a Blake edition. (I don't think Blake is right but am not sure). Is the correct box Touring Coupe or Blake? The VIN number for my vehicle does not match with the choices listed. My Vin # is 12AAV1232E1003948 My Title Paper shows 1984 Avanti. Vin# plate on the vehicle matches the title papers. Car Fax report from VIN # shows clean history. Also confirms it is 1984 model. Any information would be appreciated. Vehicle is Burnt Orange metal flake. Dealer website shows pictures of the car: https://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/64126053 Thank You Chief Blaze
studegary
To me, your VIN indicates a 1984 model Avanti (Blake), but NOT one of the 50 Touring Coupes for 1984.
Chief Blaze
Hi Sudegary. Thanks for your quick reply. The car is now on the shipping truck heading from MO to CA. This morning I asked the dealer if he recalled a signature on the steering wheel. He said there is one. I asked him if was Duntov. He says he thinks that is right but not certain as the car is on its way to me and he can't look. Gary: I wonder if this new bit of information helps to ID what model, etc. I have? I think I will wait to register with the AOAI until I am more certain about the car details. Previous owner in Missouri is Dale Long. Bonne Terre, MO. My understanding is that he is also a Studebaker Driver's Club Member. I have been unable to reach him by phone. I would P I him if he is in the SDC Drivers Club listings. Thanks Again!
