Guest dapy
Completing the R2 engine rebuild. Last to install is the shroud. Fan strikes it. Was OK before engine removal and engine test runs without shroud is fine. Suggestions would be appreciated. The last gasp...
Gunslinger
Is it the original shroud? Did you install new motor mounts which could shift the position of the engine? Is the fan striking the top or side of the shroud? I'm not sure but understand the engine is offset to one side for some reason so it might need to be repositioned. Hopefully someone with the straight information on that will answer that. I'd like to know why the engine is allegedly offset.
Guest dapy
You nailed it. The wrong (new) motor mounts were installed and that raised the engine just enough to clip the top of the shroud. Ordered replacement mounts. I don't know that the engine is supposed to be 'offset". I hope not. My rebuild is the original 289 R2. Engine guy says that in time that could also affect the drive shaft connection so no question about getting it right.
