max's avanti
Hello All, Looking for some direction here. I'm putting a 63 back together, have a new doors shell, and I can get the door to adjust correctly. Gaps are good but the front of the door sticks out about the thickness of the door material. I'm tried to adjust it in by enlarging the hinge mounting holes, nothing. Any anyone help a brother out? Thanks Bob
Gunslinger
Give Dan Booth a call at Nostalgic Motors...1-800-AVANTI1. He's not only a wealth of information but he can often make time to walk you through it, step by step. Last year after my car was damaged and required a new fender and drivers door, which were sourced from Dan Booth, the replacement door fit better than the door that was on the car. Go figure. The problem with Avanti doors as being fiberglass, there's variations in curing rates in the material and some doors will fit better than others. Avanti Motors often said in their advertising that if it takes "our mechanics one-half hour to put on one door and six hours to put on the next one" they had the time. They knew what they were talking about as that often happened.
