lschuc
Studebaker used both the Powershift automatics and the four-speed Borg-Warner T-10 manual transmission in all 1963 and 64 Studebaker Avantis, and you could order a T-10 four-speed transmission in the Altman Avantis through the 1960s, and through, I believe 1972. (I knew someone that last year removed the four-speed from his 1972 Avanti to replace it with an automatic). After 1972, all came with automatics, until, I believe 2003 or 2004, when the folks in Villa Rica, Ga., could proved the new Avantis with a GM 5-speed manual -- maybe even a six-speed. Max Starkey
When did they stopping making the Avanti with a standard transmission? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Newman&Altman made around fifty, four speeds cars with the last made in 1974. They had terribly stiff clutches and were no fun to drive in traffic. Blake made a hand full of 5-speed cars and I have no idea how many cars Kelly has made, let alone if he has made any manuel tran. cars.
