Gunslinger Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 You're care is definitely a '63...the 908th production Avanti built. It's an R1 engine...289 cubic inches. To make sure you have the correct, original engine still in the car you would need the engine numbers and a copy of the build sheet for the car which is available through the Studebaker National Museum and Nostalgic Motors. That would be an excellent thing to do as it will verify how your car came equipped from the factory...engine and engine number, transmission type, accessories, color of the exterior and interior, etc.
okc63avanti Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) 63 R1908 is a 1963 Model but was actually built in November of 1962. Here's the production time line for Studebaker Avanti cars build by Studebaker based on serial number sequence. http://www.theavanti.com/production.html You can order the factory production order for your car from the Studebaker National Museum Production Order Link Edited October 21, 2011 by okc63avanti
