J Boyle
My driver's window was scratched during restoration so I'll likely need a new one. I posted this over on the SDC forum and got conflicting answers. 1. S.I./John Myer/Nostalgic doesn't have any NOS. 2. New glass is avaliable and it WILL match the oeriginal tint. (Tint is done to a SEA standard). 3. New glass is available and it WON'T match original tint. 4. Original glass made back in the day (today's NOS) tint varied from batch to batch... Anyone care to chime in on which/any/none of these are true?
Gunslinger
Is the scratch so bad it can't be polished out? I've had some luck polishing scratches out or at least making them less visible using different grades of polish and a random orbital. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. As far as glass tint goes, it simply seems logical that the glass tint would vary from batch to batch. Add in the passage of time and fade from the sun would add to any mismatch in tint.
