peeler
I have recently purchased an 81 Avanti RQB 3050. It was produced at the end of March in 1980 but sold as an 1981 in Feb of 1981. I need to touch up the interior, which is in overall really nice shape, but I cannot find the color code for what the build sheet describes as Gladstone Bittersweet Vinyl Paint. Likewise, even though I have the repair and parts manuals for the 63/63 Studebaker version I would like to source a copy of what would have come with the car in 1981 as the glove box owners manual. Is there someone who can help me with these two items?
Gunslinger
What you'll probably be best doing is have a fully equipped auto paint suppler look at the car. They can computer match the color...even with its fading from age. Then they can mix up matching paint with the flex agent in it. They can supply it for you in liquid cans or in a rattle can for your use. Even if they have the code for your color, mixing it to the original formula would probably not match due to age and fade. Paint mixtures and formulas have changed much over the years anyway due to different EPA regs and resultant reformulations. That alone could make for a slightly different appearance. Having them computer match it for you is better. As far as owners manuals go, Avanti Motors rarely issued updated versions. Studebaker International sells a reprint of the 1971 manual, which was used for years with corrections as needed. Each model year didn't get new manuals. You might find the same 1971 era manual with an ink stamp of a different year on the cover, but that's about it until after the mid-1980's when they went to the Chevy frame. I have a '70 Avanti but keep the '71 issue owners manual as that's all that's really available. It's more for show than anything substantive.
