J Boyle Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 (edited) Allen Barth is doing his best to get my car out of his shop but in doing a final inspection found the hood release cable has met its maker...likewise, the trunk cable was replaced a few years ago right after I got the car. (I thought it would nice to show my wife that you could get into the trunk without a screwdriver). The parts manual shows it to be part 293902X8 "Control, Hood Lock". SI doesn't list them and it's too late to call around. Anyone have a good used example or suggestions on where to look? Edited February 22, 2011 by J Boyle
Gunslinger Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Nostalgic carries them, though the handle isn't correct for a Studebaker, but works the same. When I needed one for my '70 I didn't care about looking original. You can also buy solid wire stock and cut it to length and shape the "Z" end with a tool made for it. If an auto supply store doesn't carry the tool, a hobby shop should...it's the tool used to do the same job on radio control airplanes.
