What has more cache?
2014 Jensen Interceptor about 6000 produced over 10 years
2014 Avanti (designed in 2010) about 8000 produced 28 years
I say the latter....

From...
"One of the more interesting lots offered by Auctions America was the Studebaker pictured above: a 1963 Avanti that had been presented to 1962 Indy 500 winner Roger Ward. Production delays prevented Roger from receiving the car on race day, but there’s another twist to the whole story. What was originally presented to the open wheel racer was an Avanti equipped with a supercharger, which did not permit the installation of air conditioning. Reportedly, Roger intended to drive the car, so Studebaker – at his request – instead gave Roger this particular model. So with all that Indiana history at an Indiana sale, it should have done well, right? Even touting its 94 out of 100 points judging result at the 2009 Avanti meet could not muster sales beyond the reserve; bidding ground to a halt at $30,000"

Interesting article on the Hemmings blog site concerning a Javelin update that never was.
Especially look at this view .
It has lines similar to the avanti....or I need new contacts....not sure which

See more shots of this car here Is this YOURS?

Jalopnik is an interesting site with automobile related stories. Today there was a feature on a 1969 Avanti II. Obviously some old footage, but nice to look at again.

Recently on Hemmings blogs, but originally from Casey/artandcolor 1980s car show
Well this is very strange.....does anyone recognize it?
-
Yes, these cars have made their rounds of other publications. The Hemmings blog was featuring them as part of the Glenmoor Gathering (maybe it was the first time they were displayed as part of a show?). As for the topic title, I just took it from the Hemmings article. And for the text included on my link, it should be corrected, because they have 3 doors, not 4.
Thanks for keeping me honest....

Hemmings blog site features some "NEW" pictures of the Original 4 door Avanti..
The pix were taken at the Glenmoor Gathering
BTW, any news on the leftover 4-door mold that was in the old Avanti factory in Ohio? I had emailed the Studebaker museum about it, because I thought it might be nice for them to have, but haven't heard much.....

I know many of you go directly to the AOAI forum page. HOWEVER, I encourage you to take a look at the NEWLY designed AOAI page.
PETER MILLER did an AWESOME job redesigning it. Everything is very nicely organized and updated!!!

There are 2 other views of the NEW AVANTI design..
Front-3/4 view and 1 from the back......

Have a look at an interesting design study over at the avanti . com

www.saint.org HAS what you're looking for - scroll down to cars driven by the Saint.
Bill D
From that Saint website, take a look at the interior door handles/arm rest....very similar to the older avanti's, no?

Anyone else on this forum find any similarities between the Avanti and the Jensen Interceptor? Whenever I see a picture of the Interceptor(don't think I've seen one in real life), from the A pillar back it has a lot of similarities. But do the similarities end there?

Find of the day on March 4th.....a 1990 4-door with a little less than 13,000 miles for around $19,500. Which works out to around $1.52 per mile already driven. Not a bad deal.....now where did I leave that $19,500 I was carrying around in my wallet?

I went to the Studebaker National Museum website and sent a message to the Curator. We will see what happens....
-
As per a recent Avanti Magazine, there was a picture of a 4-door Avanti mold sitting in an abandoned(crumbling) warehouse. Wouldn't the studebaker international museum would be interested in that. If not, surely someone would. I wonder if Cafaro would arrange to donate it, since he is the closest/most recent owner (not on trial) of the Avanti Automobile Corporation.

Avanti's status since late 2006.....DOA
Aside from the national meets, local chapters, this site/forum and a couple other fansites (avantisource.com & theavanti.com) not much new....
The avantimotors.com site is still up so you can see what they did to the Avanti after 1991....

My dad owns an 88 coupe and we are looking to get new rims. We both like the looks of the 1990 4-door rims pictured on theavanti.com site. I thought I saw something similar on a '90 era Chevy (which makes sense). Does anyone know where I might find the rims pictured?
Thanks

Here are a few more looks at the old ohio Avanti plant from the same person as above

Would it be cool to have that 4-door form on the wall of your garage?
