Looking for recommendations for repair.

Thanks. These knobs are actually for the seat releases.

For lumbar levers.

Mine is for sale!,

Other than cost, what are the advantages of having Power Brake Exchange rebuild versus buying a new or rebuilt unit from Myers, SI, or the other Avanti parts dealers?

Are the cowl vents in the foot area on the sides? Where are the drains that prevent water coming in these vents when it comes in through the grills in front of the windshield? I was recently leak testing after installation of a windshield. Fortunately the windshield and A Pillars no longer leaked, but my installer and I found water coming in the vents, confirmed when I poured a bucket into the grill. How do I remedy this problem?

I have the same door lock issue. Interested in how your adventure turns out.

That’s what I’ve been thinking, as the shop manual says nothing about sealing under the trim on the A pillars. It seems that the rubber gasket sealed inside the door frame along the A Pillar trim should work to keep water out of the car. If I’m mistaken, would someone please clarify.
-
In the middle of replacing windshield. When reinstalling the stainless trim over the A pillars, is it necessary to use sealant? Mine came off filled with white caulking that looks entirely ineffective and made removal of the trim difficult. If they should be sealed, what product is best and at what locations under the trim? The windshield and its rubber gasket will be sealed, but that is another issue.
Also, who is the best vendor for purchase of new trim on bottom of windshield? Many thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the tip. I too hope to have an experienced classic car installer do mine.

What type of sealant are you using for reinstallation of the windshield and where do you buy it? I understand that a 3m product, #8509, is preferred but I have been unable to find any.
-
It appears that 3M Automotive Bedding & Glazing Compound #08509 is the preferred product to use when installing the windshield. Any suggestions on where to buy it? None of the usual sources seem to stock it. And what is the best available alternative?

Done it on my 1975. Removed cap over bulb so it lights entire shifter. Works fine.

Paul,
Sorry for the delay. Traveling. I have to let this go with too many other projects ongoing. My apologies.
-
I am finding this to be very difficult. How does one get the bulbs and the metal connectors to stay in the rubber socket? My bulbs keep falling out and into the gauges. Only worked on the temperature gauge and the one below it so far. Ve ry frustrating.

What type of LEDs are you using? Brand, number, etc?
-
My 1975 has the parking brake handle under the dash to the right of the steering wheel. Mounted on the brake shaft is a momentary electrical switch to activate the light on the dash. Any idea where I might find one of those switches?

Mounts on parking brake shaft under dash to operate light on dash. 1975 Avanti II.

Just installed the led flasher with ground wire and it solved my problem. Side markers, front and rear turn signals and parking lights, all work. Thank you much for this helpful tip. Avoided adding resisters to the front signals, which might have also worked but would have been more difficult.
-
How many bulbs are in and about the shifter? I know only one that lights the gear selector. Your pix is much brighter than my 1975.
-
My 1975 does not have cruise control. I replaced the flasher on the fuseblock with a digital version and installed LEDs in the rear turn signals, taillights, backup lights, and side markers. All work. But putting LEDs in the front turn signals do not work. What am I missing? Resisters in line to the front turn signals? A ground wire to the flasher as you have done?
-
Most electrical problems on these fiberglass cars seem to be ground issues. Also check Bob Johnstone’s site for electrical diagrams. Unlikely fuse issue. And while you are messing with these lights, you might as well convert to red LEDs. Vast improvement.
