Mr T
Hi I have an 88 convertible and need information on who made the rear quarter window lift's for these cars as mine have broken cable's and do not work, any help please. Also for better info would people please include part #'s when replacement parts have been identified, as I live in New Zealand and part #'s are of a great help when having to go out to order parts, many thanks. WayneC
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come up with an answer. Meantime, I can't help you directly, but you might try clicking on "parts" at this website: http://www.avantimotors.com/ That will bring up an email compose screen and you could ask your question there; however, I am not sure whether that website is still being maintained as there are currently rumors about the viability of the company. Secondly, you might try the same at http://www.avantiparts.net/ by emailing info@avantiparts.net That vendor doesn't service your year Avanti, but it's possible they might have the info you seek (long shot). Barring that, you may need to remove the bad part and see if you can repair it, or see if there are any markings on it that could help you identify it (like a Delco part number or whatever); or even improvise something new based on what you find. PS: you could also try searching the web for aftermarket kits that may have been used on your car, to see if anything looks like yours; for instance: http://www.a1electric.com/catalog/cat_elemtr.htm http://tinyurl.com/362uzl http://www.power-window-motors.com/ http://tinyurl.com/yrjekv Edited January 28, 2007 by WayneC

Tony. Hi I also have a 1988 Avanti convert and just went throught the same thing. The pasenger rear wire frayed. I went through all the they came out of lebaron converts and other cars, don't waste your time. Even if you are so lucky to find what Avanti Motors used you would have to break the welds on the brackets they welded on so it would fit in the car, then reweld them on the one you found. I just got mine back from a company called Window Motor World inc out of Boone, NC 1-800-252-2649 ( windowmotorworld.net ) I had the regulator taken out and shipped. They replaced the motor with a newer one and replaced the cable with a thicker cable and guarantee it for 1 year. The cost for new motor, new cable and they payed shipping to me all for 150.00. They turned it around in one day. Save your time and energy and have these guys do it. As soon as winter comes I will send them the other side to have it done.
