mfg Posted August 28, 2018 Report Posted August 28, 2018 What was the internal 'fail safe' featured in very early McCulloch (but not the later Paxton) superchargers to help stop their ball drives from 'burning up' in hard use ?
grobb284 Posted August 28, 2018 Report Posted August 28, 2018 Was it the soft material spacer behind the ball races that allowed them to slip rather than lock up. As I recall the races are not pinned like the SN60.

EXACTLY CORRECT!.....Early outer races were not pinned and were designed to begin to rotate as an automatic 'last resort' to save the ball drive assembly. VERY CRAFTY! (in my humble opinion)
