Luma
What are the correct steps to remove a Stude Air Conditioner compressor off a 64 R1. I see the 4 bolts on the compressor bracket, and 2 water manifold bolts and one large 7/16 at the front of the water manifold. Does the idler pulley bracket bolt to the block somewhere or just the 2 bolts to the compressor? Thanks for any help.
Kennie B.
The compressor is held to its mount by 8 bolts. You can see 4 of the bolts looking down from the right side but there are 4 more underneath. Taking out the bracket is tricky and reinstalling worse. Use the brackets as a means to hold the pump in place while you get the bolts started.
Luma
Thanks Kennie B. Are the 4 bottom bolts the same 4 that hold the idler pulley bracket to the compressor? Can I leave that attached and just remove the 4 compressor bracket bolts and the lower the compressor out of the way?
Kennie B.
The brackets are two separate pieces. The bottom part is the one with the tensioner/idler pulley. The upper part is also the alternator mount.
