JWL1940 Posted August 25, 2016 Report Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) Just finished doing a fluid change on R4541 - engine, transmission, differential - including new brake hoses and filter for the transmission. Earlier did a cooling system service. The only old fluid in the car is in the power steering. It looks old. No leaks or noise, but time for a change. I have no idea what kind of fluid is in it. I think it will take a few tries to drain, refill, drain, refill to get all new fluid in the system. What are suggestions for the correct type of fluid to use? Little by little getting through maintenance and service of all the systems. Thanks (o[]o) Edited August 25, 2016 by JWL1940
JWL1940 Posted August 25, 2016 Author Report Posted August 25, 2016 A knowledgeable party on another site wrote that the PS takes the same fluid as the AT, that is ATF Type F. I have some extra left over from the trans fluid service and will use it. Thanks (o[]o)
MARK Posted September 1, 2016 Report Posted September 1, 2016 yes use the F, NAPA inventories that as I have purchased a few cases Mark
JWL1940 Posted September 1, 2016 Author Report Posted September 1, 2016 MARK, thanks. I did the job and the fluid that was in the canister looked like ATF. Bottom of canister was clean. (o[]o)
