mfg Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 I'm replacing the transmission oil pan on my '63 Avanti with a new one. There is a bracket spot welded to the right (passenger) side of the new pan with two 'fingers' on it, which stick out perpendicular to the side of the pan. I take it this bracket is supposed to center and stabilize the trans filler tube? (This bracket was missing or removed from the original pan)
mfg Posted May 5, 2014 Author Report Posted May 5, 2014 As it turned out, the upper finger on the new trans oil pan had to be bent back flat against the side of the pan for the filler tube to line up properly and easily. I thought about doing a front and rear band adjustment, per shop manual, while the pan was down, but as this transmission shifts very nicely....I figured why mess with it?.....Pan is back on with no leaks. (so far!)
