Hi

I have bought several months ago an Avanti II year 1981 from a car dealer in France who is known to import American Cars. When I bought it it had already a french certificate of title with the serial number: RQB V8.

I think this is not the real serial number. On An other forum I noticed that a serial number could be engraved somewhere in the car, but WHERE??? :(

Thank you for your help; this will help me to track the history of my Avanti

There is a small metal tag (about 1" x 1/4") on the drivers side of the dash board. You could not see mine because it was positioned below the lip of the windshield. There is also a engraved metal plate on the driver door post. And occasionally the serial number may be engraved on the rear crossmember.

Good luck on getting a clear title.

You SHOULD be able to see the dashboard-mounted serial number plate through the windshield on the driver's side. But as GAWen said, sometimes it's mounted too low to be visible
