Hi...I am about to get started on restoring my R2 Avanti. I have never done this kind of work. I took a look at it, and saw that the interior needed some work, and mostly under the hood. Can anyone giving some helpful hints.? I will upload some pictures when I get the chance.

Welcome Rick,

Here's a couple of suggestions:

Browse around Bob Johnstone's website (especially the tech pages) he has indexed his website and has archived lots of "how to" discussion, part exchanges, etc. Here's the link

http://www.studebaker-info.org/

The SDC has a Studebaker tech tips, specs and data page with many links

http://www.studebakerdriversclub.com/techtips.asp

Also if you don't already have them, order a reproduction copy of the Avanti factory shop manual and factory parts manual (available from several vendors). In addition another useful book by Stan Gundry "What the Shop Manual Won't tell You" is another good resource, here is a link to Stan's website:

Rick, I just finished a frame on restoration on my 64 R2. I have two great mechanics in NJ that would be of help if you in the area. Most important, plan on more repairs than exptected. If you are doing a repair or service and items like fuel or water pumps are nearby change them and save the removal later of more diffictult parts. Remember brake/fuel/transmission lines get old fast, suspension and bushing need attention too.

Good luck and dont tell your wife about the costs involved, all of us will get in trouble.

HI Rick, I'm starting a rebuild of a 63 R2. I'll be happy to send or pass along any info. Were in the same boat. I'm in michigan. You can email me at dagoracing@wowway.com , also join the Yahoo Avanti group. They have alot of people who can help as well. Both sites are great.
