  1. If anyone needs any large head stainless steel rivets I'll have some left over... two sizes ....sorter ones for the main parts of the troughs and longer ones for the thicker part under the bodys edge ...I had to by a 100 each!

  3. thanks for viewing ..I used jing for the slide show the basic is a free download let's you make a 5min. movie I use the pro so I can use the microphone that's about the only difference ...still working on the car will post more in a week or two as far as the slick street stuff I'll tell you I think he needs to move the whole rack over to the left (drivers side) that's what I ended up doing.... trying to make the steering linkage from the rack to the steering colum without hitting the headers is next to imposible and that was with the header style he suggests..it was a major job he was most helpful on the phone but in the end we were on or own.... the system may be a 'bolt on' but the steering linkage is the hardest part he said this fits on a lark with no problem only thing is this ain't no lark! the engine compartment is totally different .......since we really haven't gotten the car going yet I hope I did the right thing

***beware this is what can happen when you just want your 'carb rebuilt' on a chevy 305 like I did!***

  4. I think I'm a member but I never get a chance to go to the meetings..... your more then welcome to come to the shop in aurora and take a look at my car...right now the frame is leaning up against the wall, the motor/trans is sitting in a corner, the body is up in the air while waiting for the s/s rivets to come in (troughs are bolted up for now), exposed area open for access to rolbar screws, rear end posi-ed and powder coated, interior out, installed a electric fan for the motor, new rack and pinion front end, so it's a good time to 'see' what your car looks like when torn apart...should be together by end of april except paint and interior...maybe we could have a meeting over there with the club!...I'd post some pics but seems my files are always too large I even shrink them in infran view and still too big!

*** my guy can rebuild your quad, work on your motor, body, paint, trans., rear end or whatever he specializes in high performance, and power...

  5. give me your # and we can call you ....probably would be able to help you out even with the tranny....(just converted my dana 44 rear end to a posi unit)

*****I think it's just aurora only for the 2nd biggest city in Il.****

  6. that's the way to go, do the frame and the troughs at the same time...if you troughs were glued all the way around (like mine were) have fun!..get it up in the air I used a air chisel to remove the rivet heads (from under the car) you'll have to cut into the body to access the bolts to the roll bar we went from the inside of the rear tire area, then we had to use the plasma cutter to get the bolts out... a drill bit wouldn't even make a dimple.... very hard steel!...I will say all the holes lined up fairly good on the 1 piece trough very stong!

there's more to the 'story of the troughs' but that's a starter for you

  7. hey I'm in aurora (now offically 2nd biggest city in IL) I have a great mechanic that could help you get your car going if you need ...motors are one of his specialty's he can get you going with some 'punch' if you need it.... let me know if you want his number

  8. you may want to check your frame first! ...inspect at the back where the leaf springs bolt to the frame, all the rear end above the tires and such, cross member bar, where the rear shocks attach to the frame, and the frame to body outriggers...you need to get it up in the air for a good frame inspection..ask me how I know...mine was totally shot! lucky enough I was able to get another frame so now we're in the middle of putting everything back on the new frame

  9. funny you should ask I'm doing mine now getting ready to glue and pop rivet everything back together ...I live near chicago so I went to georges place and bought the troughs from him my troughs were completly rust through

if you need a question answerd let me know or live in the area me and my friend can do it for you

I belive the one piece trough is the way to go!! click on the attached image boxes to see how bad mine were!

  10. after having my key ingnition switch torn out, high low beam broken off, column ripped apart and left in pieces on my 83 ,while in the hands of a 'hack' mechanic I sent my column to a guy in indiana that rebuilds them.... mine was a gm tilt column ....cost $250 for the rebuild including new lock set and keys and repainted ..the guy did a great job

  11. thanks for all the help on my first post about locating rear brake drums for my

'83'.... after much searching I finally found 'the drum'

66-67 FORD T-BIRD... the lugs holes and center hole all fit perfect the outside

diameter is 1/4" larger which has no effect, and the height is apx 1/4" taller

so I just have to machine off that 1/4" and it will be good to

gooooooooooo!....as soon as I get everything all put back together ...right now

converting my dana to a posi....

I'll post a pic. of the brake drum...hmmm still can't post a picture anyone know how to do that?

I GUESS THE PHOTO IS THERE I CLICKED THE BOX WITH THE RED X AND THE PHOTO SHOWED UP
