Even though the Hurst with Dave's handle is far superior to the stock, I just really am big on authenticity. I know that sounds silly but that's the mechanical feel that I'm after. His handles look great but I just would like to put in the real mccoy. Dwight, if you have one that would be great!

I'm looking to put a 4 speed into a 63 Avanti. I have everything that I need but I really want a stock shifter, not a Hurst. I know, I know the stock shifter wasn't great, but I would really like to get my hands on a stock shifter. Does anyone know where I could find one or have one that they took out and didn't throw away? Thanks!

The only ways that I know how to combat knock other than using higher octane fuel is to use water-methanol injection or an intercooler. This would reduce intake air temps and bring combustion temperatures down. Someone mentioned composite gaskets. They are not generally recommended for vehicles with forced induction.

I'm new to the group and I am hoping that maybe someone has a stock 4 speed shifter that they are not using. I know that a lot of people are using the Hurst Competition Plus shifter, but I would like a factory shifter. Much appreciated!
