Thanks to Bob Kapteyn, I now have an ignition key for my Avanti. I sent the key number to him and he had the necessary info on file for the key. Bob had the key made and I just received it today, 04/20/2007, along with a couple of blanks. I tried the key and it worked in both doors and the ignition. Bob went above and beyond to solve my problem. Thanks again Bob!

rbk Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 George Glad to hear that the keys worked. That was an original aluminum blank that I still had. Be sure to put an anti theft alarm on your car. The truck driver maybe back.He has the keys. I have hundred of keys with numbers on them so if anyone needs assistance like this, please let me know. GeoBurns Posted May 23, 2007 Author Report Posted May 23, 2007 (edited) And so the question on EVERYONES mind .. HOW DOES IT SOUND??? Tom Sorry that I have not responded but right after getting the key I lost my job. I finally got back to the Avanti. Turned the key and nothing. I replaced the battery and one cable. Voila! It started and sounds great. No blue smoke - woo hoo. Not bad for 43 years old. Thanks again to everyone. At the least I think we learned an important lesson - don't lose your keys but if you do contact Joliet Studebaker. Edited May 23, 2007 by GeoBurns
