Stude5363
I am in the process of building a '63 Avanti from two junk '63's that were missing the Avanti engines. I have installed a small block Chevy with an overdrive auto. I am building this as a frequent driver, my No.1 vehicle. My problems: Can anyone help me with the proper wiring hookup for the distributor (GM high energy) and the alternator (Delco with built in regulator). Also need help on wiring the gages at the engine. Any Help will be appreaciated. Dave.
SBCA96
My problems: Can anyone help me with the proper wiring hookup for the distributor (GM high energy) The distributor must have a FULL 12 volts when the key is "ON". You can not use the wire that goes to the coil, since its a resistor wire. On my Hawk with the HEI I ran a NEW wire from the Ign switch to the power, though using an inline fuse is a good idea. alternator (Delco with built in regulator). I put a GM Alt on my Studebaker powered Avanti, I did a write up for the Avanti magazine a few years ago, you might check there. I found this though : http://patriot.net/~jonroq/Text/GMs-10.txt Tom
