marc212
I have a problem with my turn signal. When the key is in off position and I turn on the parking light, the turn signal operates in the left hand turn position. After a short time of flashing normally, it freezes on. When the key is on and the lights are off, all four lights flash, although the right lights dimly, when the signal is in left turn position. If the lights are on and the key is on, the left hand turn signal just freezes on. I have checked the light switches and the wiring of the overhead switches. I have changed the flasher. I have changed all of the bulbs. Still a problem. I am about to do the turn signal wiring harness. Any other suggestions? It seems like quite a mystery. Thanks, Marc

GlennW
Has the interior trim been removed recently? I seem to remember folks having problems with a trim screw sometimes piercing overhead switch wires in the A pillar when doing new headliners and such. One thing you can do is one at a time unplug the six wires from the turnsignal harness (under the dash) see if the condition changes, making a note of exactly what wire & what the new symtoms are if the IS a change. That may give you the kind of clues you can use to deduce from the wiring diagram for further experiments. If memory serves, the brake lights are on their own fuse so the first thing I'd do is pull the "stop" fuse and see if the situation changes, and in what way. marc212
Thanks for the responses. So far, no answer. I am going to change the connectors to the parking and head lights, the ones on the driver's side look as if they have been melted by power steering fluid. If that fails, I am in going to try the turn signal switch. When I find it, I will let you know. Marc

Marc Keep in mind once you've pulled the steering wheel there's little to see on the turn signal switch (even if you remove it) unless it's obviously fried. At the stage you're at it's usually best to grab a notebook and factory wiring diagram and simply unplug various connectors and go through the left turn, ign on/off etc. routine looking for changes. Your call, if you have a puller handy it only takes 5 minutes to get a peek at the turn signal switch and see if it's a crispy critter but that is VERY rare and you can usually just sniff the hub to detect that.
